Airborne to Africa is the posthumous collection of Jim Bailey poems previously unreleased. After he nearly lost his life as a fighter pilot in World War II, Jim dedicated his heart to Africa. His is a life lived with joy and honesty and this resonates in his poetry. Jim has traveled the African continent as if it were his oyster and these pearls amongst this poetry collection from one of the greatest journeys in the university of life, there has ever been. “The poetry of Airborne to Africa is full of colour, culture, diversity, unity and humanity in words and photographs for Africa.” As a backdrop to Jim’s wonderful poetic observations photographic images from travels to Dakar and Bamako in 2000, Abidjan, Burkina Faso and Congo Brazzaville in 2001, Maputo, Durban and Cape Town are added.
