For many years prior to the American Civil War escaped slaves made their way to the northern states and Canada along a series of routes maintained by the Underground Railroad. They were moved from station to station until they reached freedom. The people that ran these stations often never saw the big picture. They only knew the part they played in keeping the way open. This is one story of one family along the Freedom Road.
