BIOGRAPHY
Born January 15, 1947 to Mina and Willi Fromhold.
Grandmother Klein was from the native Klyne and Shock families of Red River and trace their descent to
fur trader Michael Klein (Cline) of Jasper (1819-1832). Michael Klein was married to Susanne Cardinal,
daughter of Mountain Man and trader Jacques Cardinal and PESEW ISKWEW, daughter of Head Chief
PESEW (Louis Joseph Piche) of the Mountain Cree. Through the PESEW family we can trace ancestry
in Alberta to Cree Chief SISIP PIMOTEW, born on the upper Oldman River ca. 1650.
The Fromhold family traces ancestry to Saint Elizabeth and Saint Margaret and the royal houses of
Poland and Thuringen. The houses of Poland and Thuringen trace their ancestry to the Carolingian dynasty.
In 1949 Mina and Willi Fromhold turned their back on their small home community and moved to the
city in hopes of a better life. At the time it was still illegal for aboriginals to live in the city. Here we were
in turn homeless and then squatters, as father built a suite in an abandoned warehouse. After a few years
in the city my parents decided to move west, working as a farmhand at Pincher Creek, outside the Peigan
Reserve. Our first winter was spent in an un-insulated and unheated house on a farm.
