The Life of Blaze - Portrait of a Dog

Joe Cook, a self-proclaimed lover of mundane things and aspiring writer has a favorite sentence: "I poured myself a cup of coffee." But when he wakes one day to discover the family dog, Blaze, may have cancer beyond all hope of recovery, he's thrown from his nonchalance cultivated in his weekly blog. He nevertheless continues to write. He shares relevant responsibilities he was unaware of as a first time dog owner. While it does provide immediate relief from his impending sadness, he also discovers how much lies beneath the surface and what this dog has come to mean to him. We get to know his family as part of the community on a small island in the San Juan Archipelago, but best of all, we get to know the athletically active and eternally positive golden retriever, Blaze.
