Ranulf de Glanville prepared and codified one of the earliest treatises on English law and custom, in the days of King Henry II. This treatise (translated in 1812 by John Beames) covers such topics as inheritance, women's dowers and marriage, land ownership, rights and responsibilities of tenants and vassals, criminal law and much more. It's an ideal resource for anyone interested in the founding principles of Anglo-Norman law.
