"The George B. McClellan Songbook" is a collection of both Union and Confederate songs written about General George B. McClellan, who organized the Army of the Potomac and served as General-in-Chief of the Union Army during the American Civil War.
Many of the lyrics express a great deal of pride in the vigor of McClellan’s Army. Several songs address the 1864 presidential election, while others illustrate the inevitable despair of war.
"The George B. McClellan Songbook" is the only known collection of Civil War song sheets dedicated entirely to General George B. McClellan. These songs could very easily have been lost forever but have thankfully resurfaced for the first time in nearly a hundred and fifty years.
