EGLN1, EGLN2, EGLN3 inhibitors as possible treatments for psychotic disorders/schizopnrenia associated with Parkinson's disease.
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Altered EGLN3 function was implicated in a familial disorder that can cause psychosis and in psychosis more generally. Here it is pointed out that: the familial disorder that can causes psychosis may also cause Parkinson's disease; that psychosis is a common comorbidity in Parkinson's disease; and that EGLN3 has close connections to the Parkinson's disease genes PINK1 and PARKIN. On this basis, it is suggested that consideration be given to whether or not EGLN inhibitors may treat psychosis that is associated with Parkinson's disease.
