Daibhidh O Duibhghennain (fl. 1651, d.1696)
Daibhidh mac Matthew Glas O Duibgeannain, or Daibhidh Bacach ("lame David") as he sometimes called himself, was an active Irish scribe, compiler, and poet between the years 1651 and 1696.
He is commonly believed to have penned such works as;
Suibhne Gelt/The Frenzy of Sweeney,
The Adventures of the Two Idiot Saints,
The Battle of Magh Rath,
The Banquet of Dun na Gedh,
The later two being the subject of this volume. The Battle of Magh Rath, which was fought in early Ireland (AD. 637) gives an insight into the methods used in battle at that time.
The translation by John O’Donovan includes many notes and includes some information about the genealogies of some clans living around that time.
