Foras Feasa ar Éirinn, (literally "Foundation of Knowledge on Ireland", more usually translated "History of Ireland") was written by Rev. Geoffrey Keating in Early Modern Irish and completed ca. 1634. This copy includes the history from the earliest times recorded up to the Norman invasion in the 12th century and is spread over two volumes. Originally printed in 1857 these two volumes also contain numerous genealogies of interest to anyone researching Irish family pedigrees.
Seathrún Céitinn, known in English as Geoffrey Keating, was a 17th century Irish Roman Catholic priest, poet and historian. He was born in Burgess, Ballylooby, just outside Cahir in County Tipperary c. 1569, and died c. 1644. He is buried in Tubrid Graveyard in the parish of Ballylooby-Duhill.
John O'Mahony (1816–1877) was born in 1816 in Kilbeheny, County Limerick, Ireland. He attended Trinity College, Dublin, where he studied Sanskrit, Hebrew and Irish.
