WWII Children's Stories, 7: CHRISTMAS AT BLUNSBROKE
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Perhaps the best of this series, much imagination, all illustrations in full color. * * * The girls are looking for Christmas ornaments in an ancient and castle-like hall, and meet someone as old as the building. * * * * * Dr. Graham was sent overseas during WWII as part of the Massachusetts General Hospital Army Base No. 6, at age thirty-three. He departed from home in May, 1942, when Janet was three years old and Sally would be turning two. During the years spent mostly in England until he returned in March of 1945 he wrote the Chronicle Letters to the adults back home, but also wrote and illustrated a series of short books for the children. In these stories he pretends that the two little girls are joining him in various activities.
CHRISTMAS AT BLUNSBROKE tells how J & S found the decorations for the soldiers' Christmas Party.
