WWII Children's Stories, 8: SALLY and JANET COME HOME

Little did the girls know that the 30-day leave would be the final trip home from England. They spend over a week at sea on the huge transport ship. * * * * * Dr. Graham was sent overseas during WWII as part of the Massachusetts General Hospital Army Base No. 6, at age thirty-three. He departed from home in May, 1942, when Janet was three years old and Sally would be turning two. During the years until he returned in March of 1945 he wrote the Chronicle Letters to the adults back home, but also wrote and illustrated a series of short books for the children. In these stories he pretends that the two little girls are joining him in various activities.
