Little kid though he may be, Michael has learned what it means to be polite, and to be respectful, even of tiny creatures.
And though he isn’t ready yet to ride anything fancier than a tricycle, he’s big enough to remind his mother about rules and manners he has learned from her, and Michael’s mother is big enough to recognize that he is right.
The ants admire these respectful people so much that they speak to them in the language of human beings; something which happens very rarely these days.
