The latter part covers the pivotal events of the Goths crossing the Danube into Roman lands under Valens, the rebellion of Fritigern, and the decisive Battle of Adrianople in 378 AD. While incorporating some legends, it remains an important medieval source on the Goths' beginnings, movements, and seismic clashes with the declining Roman Empire.
