THE RISKY DREAM OF MORTALS

By the late 21st century, Earth has established an International Academy of Astronautics, where members are genetically engineered before birth to become exemplary astronauts. Among them, a young woman stands out—she has been trained her entire life for a daring mission: to be the first woman to give birth on Mars. There, the authorities and scientists overseeing the project—closely tied to a pseudo-religious group whose beliefs center on the pursuit of immortality—conceal their true intentions from the future mother. As part of a conspiracy, Numen is born: a being with a consciousness far superior to that of its peers. This extraordinary child will alter daily life in the human colony on Mars’ base—and perhaps even the fate of humanity itself.
