Julie is well-known throughout the state of Oregon and nationwide for more than 50 years of civic involvement, especially her advocacy and passion for the arts. She currently serves as vice chair of the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies, based in Washington, DC. She was appointed by two governors to terms on the Oregon Arts Commission and served as chair for three years. Julie is a board member emeritus of the Portland Center Stage (PCS) Board after serving as chair for five years. Beyond the arts, Julie continues her 30-plus year position as a trustee for the Jackson Foundation, as well as serving on the Willamette Falls Trust board. She is also past president and current emeritus member of both the Multnomah Athletic Foundation and the Portland Parks Foundation. Julie is a senior fellow of the American Leadership Forum. Julie is a recipient of multiple state and regional awards the most recent being named Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser Award given by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Julie received a bachelor’s degree in English from Portland State University. She is an avid synchronized swimmer, and competes as a member of the Multnomah Athletic Club’s national champion synchro- masters team. She is still married to her high school sweetheart, Ted, and the mother of two adult children and grandmother to six grandchildren.
