A Taste of Silk

Flushed, flustered and glowing from the exertion, she pushed her way in through the shiny plate glass doors of the restaurant and cast around for Laura, her eyes struggling to register in the dimly lit interior. There was a sharp whistle and a man’s arm shot up in the air, bright white cuffs shining out in the dim atmosphere, extending the regulation two inches beneath the dark fabric of his suit. When a chance encounter with an ex-lover reveals a darker side to Nevada’s nature, she is happy to follow her best friend’s advice and live dangerously for once. However, scant hours later, Nevada stared gratified at the woman in the mirror, her body felt alien to her, who was she? What had she done? If she is able to maintain the secrecy of her past and shroud the misdemeanours of her present in a cloak of respectability, she may discover the route to future happiness, but at what cost, and is it a price that Nevada is willing to pay?
