“KAVIN BUCK: Lost Highways: Watercolors” is a documentation of paintings by artist Kavin Buck. The catalog was published in conjunction with Buck’s solo 2024 exhibition “Waiting for the Sun to Fall” at the Elizabeth Leach Gallery in Portland, Oregon. The 60-page book includes over 49 color images representing a selection of Buck’s “Lost Highways” watercolors created between 2023-24 with an introduction by the artist. The paintings are both traditional and abstracted landscapes in the West Coast style of wet-into-wet watercolor and depict vistas that are minimal yet complicated with a balance time-worn histories of romanticism, realism and abstraction. The introduction by Kavin Buck states why at this stage of his career he came to create this series of intimate artworks, while also weaving personal recollections of his foundations as artist.
