This book is made in conjunction with exhibition "After, Other, and Before", a group exhibition curated by Emerging Curators Institute (ECI) Fellow and 2021 Franconia Fellow, Kehayr Brown-Ransaw. This exhibition presents works by diasporic artists that confronts, challenges, reconciles, and recontextualizes the settler colonial identity and “other” identity marker placed on people of color.
Participating Artists: Timothy Manalo, Nico Sardina, Beau Tate, and Kieran Myles-Andrés Tverbakk.
The Emerging Curators Institute (ECI) supports emerging curators from diverse backgrounds through an in-depth research, professional development, and presentation program. The first of its kind in the region, the program aims to foster critical dialogue around curatorial practice and provide opportunities for Minnesota-based emerging curators. As part of its program, each year ECI offers support in the form of funded educational fellowships to four emerging curators from the area.
