Comedy. Horror. Drama. Regardless of genre, Vickers and Kambara
follow a common theme in their work—a theme where the surface of their
characters belies the truth that lies beneath—a theme where reality is
stranger than fantasy, and catharsis does not always lead to satisfaction.
Their first collection of screenplays, THINGS AREN’T WHAT THEY
SEEM, includes four works spanning from 2001 through 2005.
WHORL, written in 2001, is a drama and sexual film noir and semifinalist
in the 2003 American Screenwriting Competition.
DANIEL’S LAWS, written in 2003, is a drama and Quarterfinalist in the
2004 Fade In Competition, and the 14th Annual Writers Network
Competition.
BANKERS’ HOURS, written in 2004, is a comedy that has not
experienced life in the competition circuit.
THE SHROUD, written in 2005, is a horror and Quarterfinalist in the
14th Annual Writers Network Competition.
