A Fountain of Joy

In 2002, my wife and I had a daughter with Down syndrome. We struggled to understand why our child would have to endure such hardship, we questioned our faith and we sought solace in our grief. When our daughter was six months old, I had a dream. I believe it was a divine message to help us understand what had happened, and to see God’s presence in the life of our daughter and in the midst of our family. During this dream I relived my wife’s pregnancy and the birth of our child, but I also saw the source of our daughter’s spirit and the purpose she brought to our lives. When I woke, I wrote down what I had seen and heard and it has been a constant source of comfort ever since. This dream was God’s message to my family that he is ever in the midst of our sorrow waiting to restore our joy.
