Built Environment Compendium Vol.1

The inaugural volume of the Built Environment Compendium (BEC) is the first in an ongoing series of concise books covering topics that define our built environment. The BEC is intended to act as a springboard for further exploration. Across subjects, the objective is to address three questions. Where did we come from? Where are we now? Where are we going next? This volume explores photovoltaics, hyperloop, urban agriculture, tall timber, carbon targets, plastics, micromobility, batteries and green concrete. The BEC is a placeholder in time, intended to offer a way to document our journey to building a better future. Our successes and failures. Aspirations and lost opportunities. Above all the BEC seeks to act as a way to provide a better understanding of the complex and variable world in which we live.
