I will well!
An A-Z linguistic guide to the Loughshore (and phrases that mean the opposite of what they say!)
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
"Diesel is now £1.15 a litre... Country's couped."
"The shop is fornenst the chippy."
"Do you want dilutant or mineral?"
"I do nothin' but redd up after ye."
The Loughshore (in the eyes of the Kiltagh Crew) is the stretch of land of undetermined dimensions on the western banks of Lough Neagh. What is for certain is that Ardboe is at its heart. The people and places here are second to none, as is the 'spake' which takes on a mastery of its own in these parts.
And so this simple guide with 150 words and phrases born out of Covid-19 lockdowns, will help those wishing to navigate this corner of the world in their endeavours.
But don’t put all your faith in its contents too deeply, for it drew a handful of co-authors into countless debates on the nuance of some of the word uses and meanings!
From one end of the parish to the next, it would seem we could publish additional guides. But we’ve better things to be doing with our days, n’matter about stay-at-home orders.
