Kira Donnell is the first Korean adoptee to graduate from San
Francisco State University's Asian American Studies master's
program. Her master's thesis examines recurring themes in poetry written by adult Korean adoptees. In 2009, while writing her master's thesis, Kira
reconnected with her birthmother after 27 years of separation.
Kira also holds a bachelor's degree in English Literature from the
University of Michigan, and her writing has been published in
Korean Quarterly and Journal of Korean Adoption Studies.
