The Way of the Cross, also known as Stations of the Cross, began as an ancient devotion—stops along the Via Dolorosa to reflect on the Passion of Christ. By the Middle Ages, fourteen stations had emerged, grounded in scriptural passages and legend. In the wake of Vatican II, the Biblical Stations of the Cross had developed, rooted entirely in the gospel narratives of the New Testament. Artist Kreg Yingst presents these stations through his beautiful woodcuts and reflections, designed to offer the reader both visual meditations and contemplative reflections.
