A Wrinkle in Rhyme is a an adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s young adult novel A Wrinkle in Time, a story which so affected me that I felt compelled to respond to it in the most effective and complimentary way to show how it has become a part of the very fabric of my own life. The characters Charles Wallace and his sister, Meg, are truly heroic in their devotion to their mother and in the improbable rescue of their father. Reading the novel was an unforgettable experience; writing the poem is my expression of gratitude.
The Odes are meant to entertain and to enjoy. They do not pretend to tell what a Grecian Earns or bestow aethereal laurels to unworthy subjects. They simply take random subjects and give them meaning beyond their otherwise insignificant existence.
The war poetry conveys the horrors of battle when it results in the senseless destruction of life. This last section is a work in progress epitomized by the classic portrayal of the death of Patroclus.
