This hauntingly beautiful ballad along with Whiskey In The Jar belong to the most popular among the Irish folk songs and is one of the most recorded ever. The words for Danny Boy were written by English songwriter Frederic Weatherly to the Irish tune of the Londonderry Air in 1910. It is often used at funerals, considered the anthem of Irish Americans and Irish Canadians and was used to represent Northern Ireland at the start of the London 2012 Olympics.
