This book was written to preserve the history and memories of the Hubka family farm. I have collected stories from my mother, my aunt, my siblings, and my cousins. We all either grew up on the farm or visited there, with many fond memories. This book is also a tribute to my ancestors who homesteaded in Pawnee County and farmed in Gage County in southeastern Nebraska, and contributed to the legacy of the Hubka family farm. They were hardy farmers with strong hands and a determination to farm the vast expanse of prairie. They battled the weather, and gave their sweat and dedication to growing crops and raising animals. The Nebraska farmer, both male and female, was a rare breed, and I'm proud to have their blood in me.
