About Lawrence Craig Erwin

Born in Ottawa, ON, in 1924, Lawrence Craig Erwin started public school just as the Great Depression was beginning to impact on Canadians. Laurie, as he is known to family and friends was obliged to change schools every year for the first five years of his education. In 1943, he joined the RCAF and fourteen months later, graduated as a single-engine pilot at Weyburn, SK. In 1950, Laurie graduated from a four-year engineering course at the University of Toronto, with a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree and found permanent employment with the Ontario Hydro. In December of that year, he married Marlyne Wilson and the couple had two children, Rod and Sandy. In 1960, he went to Little Long Rapids on the Mattagami River as Construction Engineer, a job he found extremely satisfying and the highlight of his career. His second marriage in 1980 was to Terry Hindman. The couple lives in an apartment in the High Park area of Toronto.
