Our societies are built on stories. The tales we tell shape our thoughts and actions, creating our present and future. As we strive for a better, more equitable and sustainable tomorrow, our stories must reflect the entire spectrum of humanity – including youth voices. Through an ever-broader range of stories, we can celebrate what we have achieved and shine a light on the gaps between the ideal and the real world. In sharing these stories, we can inspire action and continue our journey towards a tomorrow in which we can all thrive together. The inaugural 2022 “Untold Tales Youth Writing Competition” was an invitation for young people to tell authentic, truthful stories that reveal issues which need to be discussed and highlight the importance of human rights as well as the UN Sustainable Development Goals. But more than that, it was an invitation for the world to hear the next generation's voice. The Untold Tales Youth Writing Competition, and this book, exist to build a better tomorrow by telling stories today.
