Design can no longer survive as an isolated autonomous entity, nor can it be an infinitely connected rhizome with no limits. Rather, its autonomy emerges from the alignment with its contingencies. The thesis is a fusion of a re-interpretation of the larger cultural + economic issues with projective design trajectories. Design should not presume or hypothesize programs and conditions, rather the design of particular programs and situations is stemmed from the analysis of the threats and problems of a place and people, in this particular case, in South Tenerife, Spain. The project is an attempt to utilize architecture as a mediator and generator among other influences and contingencies in a much accelerated condition. Built forms and design scenarios emerge from a deeply connected condition involving multiple layers, and constantly re-negotiate and re-speculate on the trajectory of development. It asks why engages in design and architecture, and suggests where it can refit.
