Mathematics 1, by Lincoln Empowered™. First grade is an exciting year for students. They are ready to make connections between the math they learn in this course and everyday life. Examples include adding and removing toys while they are playing with friends, dividing a cake into slices at a birthday party to ensure every person gets a piece, and comparing the length of their foot to another person’s foot. They are becoming more aware that math is all around them and that it is an integral part of everyday life. In first grade, they begin to experience and learn mathematics in a more formal way.
