About Louisa Adjoa Parker

Louisa Adjoa Parker is a poet and writer who specialises in writing about the history of black and minority ethnic people in Dorset. She is of white British and Ghanaian heritage. Having lived in the West Country from the age of 13, she has long been aware of 'difference', and began writing to talk about her experiences of racism living in predominantly white areas all of her life. Her poetry collection 'Salt-sweat and Tears' was published in 2007. Her books and exhibitions include 'Dorset's Hidden Histories'; 'All Different, All Dorset'; and 'We Black Men of England.' Her poetry and other creative writing has been published in a range of publications including Wasafiri; Envoi; the Forward Prize collection; Out of Bounds: British Black and Asian poets; and Ouroboros. She co-edited 'Dorset Voices' in 2012.
