Language and Culture

My thesis question asks, “Why does etymology matter?” More than that, it asks for a more full discussion of the question: “Use specific examples from classical antiquity, the medieval west, and modern America to establish the role of etymology in understanding specific peoples, cultures, and mankind in general.”
