This historical recipe book consists of a collection of really old recipes, as compiled by New Englander, Lydia Maria Gurney and published in 1914.
This early 1900’s recipe collection was handed down from generation to generation. They are all very straight forward with no fancy descriptions and are great to browse through when looking for something you may have had in the past, or if you want to try something completely different.
To keep it’s historical value it is necessary to keep the book true to the author’s own words, thus needless to say that the terminology and measurements used in this book are very old, as all these recipes were developed over a century ago.
I added a list with basic tips that should be of help to clarify some of the questions the reader might have.
For those readers brave enough to take a walk down memory lane, page through this book and learn the way in which our great-grand-mothers used to do things.
