American Auto Trail - Texas' U.S. Highway 67

This installment crosses the expanse of the State of Texas, beginning in the eastern Piney Woods around Texarkana. By Dallas, the high plains of the ranchers are explored. Finally, the highway enters the arid desert region of Western Texas, dipping down to the Mexican border at Presidio on the Rio Grande. Much of Texas' rich history is examined along U.S. Highway 67. The stories of the Native Americans, the endeavors of the early Spanish and French explorers, and the fortitude of the Texas Republic and the American settlers who arrived here are all available to explore.
