In 1863, John M. Bozeman blazed a road from the Oregon Trail to the Montana gold camps. In 1864, he escorted a wagon train over it. This excerpt follows the Bozeman Trail from Caspar, Wyoming to Bannack, Montana, arching across the battlefield of Little Big Horn into the mining country of Montana's Rocky Mountains.
