Paytonville Stories is a gripping, neo-noir thriller that follows the first season of a fictional TV series set in a Midwestern metropolis. The episodic novel tells the story of crime and its effect on the lives it touches. High-priced accountant Albert McGwain is found murdered amidst the ruins of his posh office. Dennis Jordan, the big brother of local celebrity journalist Scott Jordan, is found dead in the back of a taxi. Detective McKnight, a veteran homicide detective speeding toward burnout, and his partner, Detective Kidd discover that these two homicides are just the first in a series of murders leading back to night club owner, Carlo Galvetti. Scott Jordan returns home from covering the war in Iraq only to find out his big brother, Dennis has been murdered. He sets out on his own to catch his brother's killer and finds himself treading deeper and deeper into the violent world of crooked cops and drug dealers.
