An awkwardly tragic dark comedy as Trevor McDonald moves back to his dad’s Robert McDonald’s flat in Bradford as they both still struggle to come to terms with the loss of Bobby’s wife, and Trevor’s mother, Diane.
How would you feel if you lost your only true love and struggled to open up due to the pressures of being a man’s man, and the sickness that comes with toxic masculinity?
After the loss of his wife, Robert McDonald wants to become a better person but is stuck about seven years behind everyone else with outdated views, regressive behaviours, and poor coping mechanisms. Bobby wishes to get closer to his son but struggles due to his emotional constipation, and traits of toxic masculinity, and is desperate for Trevor to turn out to be the total opposite of him, however, Trevor sees his father as an unlikely hero.
Trevor and Robert McDonald are trying to reconnect and rebuild their relationship, although they often bump heads with each other the two moody mardy arses have an unspoken, unconditional love towards each other but have trouble showing in it as Robert is stuck somewhat in the past and Trevor McDonald is trying too hard to impress the opposite sex.
