CHRISTMAS EVE IN THE SUMMER COUNTRY is Mack Hall's followup to A LITURGY FOR THE EMPEROR, continuing the themes of Christendom and pilgrimage. Many of the poems are traditional sonnets, and while others are looser in structure (although usually maintained in blank verse) there is no I, I, I, Me, Me, Me prosetry cluttering the content. These are poems for grownups, not for superannuated adolescents.
