Door of Hope is a series of volumes of the written works of Makayla Anderson. Between the ages of fourteen and twenty-two, Makayla wrote poems, songs, essays, and letters for and to persecuted Christians. Inspired by family, friends, and missionaries with whom she corresponded, over the course of eight years Makayla wrote extensively concerning persecution, faithfulness, and the Great Commission, how God turns the Valley of Achor (trouble) into a Door of Hope. Volume 1 - If We Are Afflicted: Ephriam and Anah focuses on how God gives His children courage, patience, freedom, healing, and peace in the midst of their suffering. Writing many of these works while dealing with physical digestive pain, Makayla saw God turn her affliction into encouragement for her biological and spiritual family in Pakistan, Thailand, the UK, Northern British Columbia, and beyond. If We Are Afflicted is a collection of what God channeled through a young woman in order to strengthen suffering Christians by His all-sufficient grace through the fruit that He can produce “if we are afflicted”.
