White Teeth and the World’s Future Hybridisation. Multiculturalism in the UK.
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Zadie Smith portrays in White Teeth the current British situation of multiculturalism and hybridity. The novel depicts a process of "colonisation in reverse". This research shows how there is a mutual inter-influence between the Western/English society and the multi-immigrant one in the places where cases of diaspora take place, such as the United Kingdom. Aspects of all the different cultures merge together and are interweaved in such a way that they become inseparable or indistinguishable from each other.
The ‘melting pot’ of different cultures that Smith portrays in White Teeth comes to show that the most probable possible future for England in particular, and for the rest of the humanity in general, is that of a hybrid society , where pure races and cultures no longer exist.
