Slot Car Magazine – January 2018

Firstly, all the very best to you all for 2018. It certainly promises to be a year, but whether it will be a good one or a bad one we’ll just have to wait and see. It seems that slot car racing is still finding its level, following the boom years of fifteen years ago or so. On one hand, Hornby’s Scalextric range for 2018 is very ‘safe’ and somewhat uninspiring, indicative of a company that is concerned more with survival than forging bravely towards exciting new horizons. On the other, Policar is launching a new track system! This might just be a very clever move indeed, pre-empting a situation where two of the three major track manufacturers are looking to reduce their commitment to the hobby, which could easily in turn lead to a shortage of new track. It is very heartening to see such a bold move and we wish Policar all the very best.
