The words used in "Burning Sage" are intended to do exactly what the physical act of burning sage does: cleanse the self and promote healing.
These words come as a result of having submerged myself in flames—grappling with the loss of my Uncle; acknowledging the pain of my first heartbreak; and trying to cope with my anxieties and the pressures of adulthood.
"Finding these words cleansed my open wounds.
Shaping these words empowered me to embrace myself anew.
Sharing these words... heals.
May these poems inspire you to a similar journey."
