Highly introspective, and often reflective, La Veau’s thematic concerns dance across time telling jovial stories about his childhood, his children, love and intimacy and more moving ones about divorce, distance, pain and endurance. Firmly grounded in the language and jargon of his native country, he makes good use of imagery, verbal energy and ingenuity in his descriptions of traditional and fictitious characters.
