Sarah's Trip to Rolla: A Tragedy of the Civil War Era

A true story of one of my ancestors. A young mother from Gainesville, Missouri, during the time of the Civil War. Shortly after her marraige, her husband is conscripted to join the Union Army. When the mother has her first child, she and a friend walk a hundred miles to the Union Army camp in Rolla, MO, to show the baby to his father. But on the trip back home, she becomes very ill.
