This book consists of a series of columns written when the author relocated with her family of six from the Netherlands to the US. It contains short, entertaining and at times insightful anecdotes about surprises with certain situations encountered. The transition from one civilized, western country to another is associated with a larger culture shock than one would anticipate. This book is interesting and entertaining for those who either have gone through a similar transition themselves, or plan to do so, or who have family, friends or acquaintances who are going through a similar transition. The book is suitable for interested parties on both sides of the Atlantic. Therefore it is written in both languages. It can be read in English from one cover, and in Dutch from the other.
