DO NOT DISTURB THE RIVER SNAKE

Forty years ago I saw this huge snake swimming the Volga River in Fayette, Ia. Now it becomes a story about being careful and wize about just looking and not following a creature who just wants to be left alone. There are pictures of the food, snacks, and habits of this kind of snake which is the North American Water Snake, as I saw it so many years ago. I am afraid of snakes and know that this is a healthy fear. Snakes are interesting from a distance. There is caution in this story. It almost has an Indian lore quality to it. It would makde a good report for a student for science class.
