Moments of Reflection

“Moments of Reflection” is a series of paintings that celebrate the beauty of Hawaii. These paintings attempt to capture those times in life where one pauses and becomes totally present. In those compelling moments one transforms. One has the ability to witness the power of nature and the unified parts of life. There is, often, a “kaona”, or hidden meaning, in much of the Hawaiian poetry, chants and contemporary lyrics. This series of paintings attempt to capture this idea through the abstracted and textured panels. Instead of a straightforward landscape painting, the minimal panels allow the audience to participate in the interpretation or find their own hidden meaning.
