This is a series of personal writings by Marcus Aurelius, Roman Emperor from AD 161 to 180, recording his private notes to himself and ideas on Stoic philosophy.
This fine book, written over 1800 years ago, is also an early pioneer of the concept of the Commonwealth of Nations.
Marcus Aurelius' views on Humanity, Mutual Respect, Compassion and Love for Life and Truth, constitute some of the most beautiful writing featured in this work - which I can confirm, having read this great work of philosophy some 20 years ago.
Written in Greek by the only Roman emperor who was also a philosopher, without any intention of publication, the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius offer a remarkable series of challenging spiritual reflections and exercises developed as the emperor struggled to understand himself and make sense of the universe.
Marcus Aurelius wrote one of the greatest works of philosophy: a timeless collection that has been consulted and admired by statesmen, thinkers and readers throughout the centuries.
On that note, we wish to remind all Global Citizens that Peace on Earth is possible.
The importance of belonging to Humanity takes precedence over all the distinctions that may separate one person from another.
The thing that matters most is not that we have any particular cultural or national identity, or that we abide by any particular religious or philosophical conviction, but that we share with all People the highest values of Humanity: Love, Cooperation and Compassion.
We invite all Global Citizens to participate in Peacebuilding so that Peace and Human Rights can be manifested in the Global Community.
NB: History has proven that the Jews and Arabs have failed to reach a compromise on the 'two state solution'; politicians having wasted valuable time - over 30 years - while Children are starving, being killed and maimed in the land.
Hence the NGO BTB-Global Peacebuilding will govern Israel-Palestine until Human Rights (UDHR), the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) Peace, Security, Legal Equality, Freedom of Movement and International Law have been manifested in the land.
