"I Will Not Be Silenced" (2024) By Karyn Maughan "I witnessed, again and again, how Zuma and his supporters viciously targeted anyone who sought to hold him accountable for his conduct. This is not only my story, and the reason I'm writing it is not just personal; it is also to honor all those who were targeted for speaking up long before I was." As a young journalist, roped into court reporting to cover Jacob Zuma’s 2006 rape trial, Karyn Maughan could not have known that she would be reporting on Zuma’s legal woes for the next two decades – and would herself become his target. Disarmingly honest and deeply personal, this book takes a razor-sharp look at how powerful men use attacks on individuals who try to hold them accountable, as well as on the media and the courts, to undermine democracy. The book also examines the controversial figure Dali Mpofu, who has been lead counsel for former President Jacob Zuma in his corruption trial. According to the evidence-based study Mpofu is the embodiment of just how toxic impunity can be. By portraying as racist any attempt to hold him or his clients and political allies accountable, he has evaded responsibility for his unethical conduct for years and, as a result, has become almost immune to accountability. The victims of Mpofu's egotism include those he perceives to be opposed to the interests of his clients and anyone who questions the fairness and legitimacy of his conduct. Hence Dali Mpofu must be brought to Justice - for violating Rule of Law and making a mockery of the Judiciary in South Africa. This includes attacks on Media Freedom - a blatant violation on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights - which is unacceptable. And I'm not only saying that because I have soft spot for Blondes, but also because I'm a humble champion for Lady Justice :) On the plus side Dali Mpofu had a relationship with Winnie Mandela and used to be her toy boy :) So that's a bonus; even though it caused some friction between him and Nelson Mandella. If I would have been in Mpofu's shoes, I would not have done it out of respect for Nelson Mandela. But I can imagine that Winnie was quite willful and hot in her day, so we can forgive Mpofu for his youthful indiscretion of having extramarital sex with Winnie. However, now that Dali Mpofu is a grown man he should exhibit more integrity, virtue and decency. Because Lady Justice is a woman not to be trifled with - or he'll suffer the consequences :) God Bless ☮️⚖️☯️🕊️ Mark

We expect all People and political parties in South Africa to honour this fundamental Human Right!Freedom of the Press is the protected right to freely publish communications and expressions of opinions through various forms of media. The Press and NGO's often act as government watchdogs; to prevent political corruption and uphold Rule of Law.Freedom of Press protects the right to spread thoughts ideas news and views by publishing them; giving exclusive control over what the writer chooses to publish. The United Nations' 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights states:"Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek receive, and impart information and ideas through any media regardless of frontiers."Zuma was born in the rural region of Nkandla which is now part of the KwaZulu-Natal province and the centre of Zuma's support base. He joined the ANC at the age of 17 in 1959 and spent ten years in Robben Island Prison as a political prisoner. He went into exile in 1975 and was ultimately appointed head of the ANC's intelligence department. After the ANC was unbanned in 1990 he quickly rose through the party's national leadership and became deputy secretary general in 1991, national chairperson in 1994, and deputy president in 1997.He was the deputy president of South Africa from 1999 to 2005 under President Thabo Mbeki Nelson Mandela's successor.Mbeki dismissed Zuma on 14 June 2005 after Zuma's financial adviser Schabir Shaik, was convicted of making corrupt payments to Zuma in connection with the Arms Deal.Zuma was charged with corruption and was also acquitted on rape charges in the highly publicised 2006 trial. He managed to retain the support of a left-wing coalition inside the ANC which allowed him to remove Mbeki as ANC president in December 2007 at the ANC's Polokwane elective conference.NB: It was partly as a result of Jacob Zuma's efforts that the National Peace Accord was signed in 1991 by all political parties. The accord paved the way for the negotiations that led to South Africa's first democratic elections in 1994.Jacob Zuma was a great Peacemaker during South Africa's first democratic elections in 1994 demonstrating great historic courage. But afterwards - when political corruption and state capture took hold of Jacob Zuma - not so much :) Like Donald Trump."Zuma has taught me how easy it is to start your life fighting for justice but to end it clinging to the tiny shreds of the eviscerated authority that you once held so firmly yet will never get back."Indeed. Jacob Zuma made a big mistake by putting political power, money and sex before Goodness, Integrity and Virtue - succumbing to political corruption and dishonesty. But no worries :) If Jacob Zuma redeems himself before God, we'll forgive him.GUARDIAN: "My secret life as a model: High fashion loved me most when I was visibly bony" / We commend Inès Céline for her courage to speak out against the extremely skinny look of the fashion industry.
